In the land of abundance, we're awash with so many different options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and beyond than many have grown to become Generation F. 'F' means Foodie, which the Oxford Dictionary defines as 'a person who is very interested in cooking and eating every different kind of food.' The keyword is 'very interested'. If you're afflicted with the following symptoms, you may even be a part of Generation F yourself.

Everytime foodies get together they would go into discussions that revolve around food, the newest Korean eating place, the latest food review in the magazines and the best stuff they've eaten all week. Their faces light up when talking over and over about how Aunt Beatrice discovered dishes to die for when traveling on a road trip and how they'd like to do the same thing some day. When eating in a brand new deli, do you have a hard time picking out the right selection and wish you could taste them all at once with the digestive system of a cow?
While the last sentence may be a clue that hints at sheer gluttony as well, you can rest assure that if you answered 'yes' to any of the above, you are a certified foodie or at least a certified foodie in the making. So, okay, now that we have that settled, let us get on with our next order of business, shall we? You may be wondering, "What has any of this got to do with gift shopping for my pals?" Well, legend has it (and science proves it) that birds of a feather really do flock together. Hence, if YOU are a foodie, chances are, so are your pals. And that makes gift shopping for them so much more interesting does it not?
Some restraint will be in order to stop yourself from actually eating the gifts you're buying, but the pleasure comes from buying something for someone who delights in savoring the joy of food as much as you do. All you need is an excuse to go on a food shopping spree, there's always a birthday or anniversary coming round the corner. If there's none at the moment, you could always look forward to Christmas, Thanksgiving and even Labor Day if you're really desperate.
Have fun looking through the online and offline retailers to pick out the perfect epicurean delight. There is nothing a foodie loves more than to receive a food basket packed to the brim with his favorite goodies. For those who love midnight snacks, you can mix and match a snack basket full of sweet or savory snacks. If you simply can't decide which selection is best, try the premium deluxe of jumbo versions. The wide variety will satisfy every craving.
For gourmet enthusiasts, the food basket must satisfy their cravings for specialty foods like exotic chocolates, fine wines, or rare meat and cheeses. Try to look for the most unusual rare foods such as wild boar bacon, smoked pheasant and goat cheese. Many online retailers have responded to this niche, and specially picked meat and cheese baskets will excite the most exotic palate out there.
Question: what do you do if your close pal practices Judaism but is a closet foodie at the same time? Answer: Why, get him a kosher gift basket of course! Kosher food items are such a big market these days that you can be sure to find an appropriate gift basket, be it for Purim or in remembrance of the Passover.
After much hard work selecting the most delicious foods to add to the basket, all you need to do after the delivery is to await the phone call saying "thank you" and perhaps your friend will invite you over to enjoy the nibbles together. It's only fair that you accept! Generation F will survive another day.
