Here are some of the more common ways to learn to play the guitar. Try each method to see what works best for you.
Group Lessons: Studying beginner's guitar in a group setting may be less frightening for you if you're new to the guitar. You not only get the advantage of having a coach to help you, you can frequently evaluate your improvement by where the other students are in the class. The worst part about taking beginner's guitar training in a group situation is that the teacher's time is divided. As a result, you may not get as much attention as you may require.
Private Lessons: This is the best technique for learning to play the guitar if you can get a good teacher. The teacher can evaluate your growth each week and custom design your training for you. You have your instructor's undivided attention and you can ask about everything you think is not understandable.
CD Lessons: There are a lot of teaching CDs existing in nearly any style you can think of. The benefit of this style of learning is that you can listen to the CD as often as you want. Any section which is not clear can be replayed as many times as desired. The drawbacks are that the songs you must study might not be the ones you desire to learn and the training is more general without any way of knowing where you are in your musical journey.
DVD Lessons: Training on DVD includes every part of the good and bad points of the CD instruction. The number one advantage to learning guitar by watching DVD video is you can see what the teacher is doing. Visual learning goes a long way toward answering your most important questions about playing the guitar.
Music Books: Music books are a time-honored system to learn how to play the guitar. You can find more books on more unique styles than most any other method to learn guitar. You should be proficient in reading music if you don't know the tune that you're studying. As a rule people have a tough time getting the music right if they do not know the song they are studying.
Internet: Today, the World wide web is a great resource for learning to play the guitar. You'll find a lot of sites that will teach you how to play the exact notes your guitar hero plays. Membership internet sites are plentiful and for a minor month to month payment you can usually study whichever style you prefer.
Friends: You should not overlook your guitar playing friends. For the most part guitar players are a welcoming group who will be more than happy to show you a few tips and tricks.
Slowing Down Recordings: You can get software that slows down your favorite recordings. This allows you to listen to each phrase at a speed where you can pick the different notes. This is a terrific technique to learn to play.
Playing With Other People: The very best way to learn to play the guitar is to get together with other people and play. This is the fastest way to learn. You will learn more by getting out and playing with other people than you ever will sitting at home playing by yourself.
The method you decide to use to learn to play guitar is up to you. Try to practice four or five times a week for 30 minutes at a time and you'll be playing guitar much sooner than you thought possible.
